The power of blogging
First of all, I’d like to thank every single person that has read this blog and supported me since the beginning. I’d also especially like to thank AJ Clarke at WpExplorer for sending me a Tweet and asking how I was. Although, I haven’t been blogging much on my personal blog – it’s wonderful to know that I am still missed and people wonder where I am and what I’m up to.
Although, I’ve been absent on Better Start Blogging, I feel that’s my duty to write content and educate other’s even if it’s a comment from just one blogger. Blogging is about relationships and learning from others.
What Am I Up To Now?
As some of you are aware, that I have a full time job as an eMarketer for a IT Group. I want to you to know that this blog will remain active, I will aim to write an article once a week or once a fortnight at a bare minimum. Life has so many commitments. Currently I am studying for my Google AdWords Professional Individual Certification.
I wanted to let you all know that I will be blogging, but on a variety of other blogs. I am mostly writing on the Intrahost Team blog where we discuss about: web hosting, blogging, web design and SEO.
My Blogging Goals For The Next 12 Months
I wanted to share with you my main blogging goal. I’d like to network with as many bloggers and readers as possible so that we can all learn from each other and be more passionate and educated about our craft. To be a successful blogger you need to be part of a community where everyone can grow.
I am offering an open invitation to get in contact. Social media is purely about networking and building communities.
I conducted a little experiment this weekend. In Twitter Land, I’ve started to develop conversations with others to see how active people really are. There are a number of awesome people in the Twitter community.
Top Twitter people to have a conversation with:
@Ryan Biddulph
@bizchickblogs
@youngprepro
@smartincomeblog
Twitter is about conversation. There were a number of nitwits on Twitter that were constantly tweeting affiliate links. These people give Twitter a bad name. If you want to succeed online and with social media it’s important to develop a conversation and relationships.
“Sometimes it is the person closest to us who must travel the furthest distance to be our friend.” - Robert Brault
Now it’s your turn
How do you use social media? Please get in touch. Please leave a comment below. Let’s start a conversation. If you want to hear more from me I’m also blogging on the Intrahost Web Hosting blog.
Many thanks
James King
Hi James,
For for kindly mentioning me in your blog post.
We hear again and again that business is about making connections through conversation but so few follow the strategy. I aim to personalize each interaction because active engagers get so much more out of their social networking experience.
Thanks for sharing!
RB
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the comment. You’re right about networking. All businesses can only money from other people. Connecting and relationships are very important. The better relationships you have with people you’ll do so much better in life.
Thanks
James
Sounds like you are pretty busy. It’s pretty hard to maintain a solid blog and social network while working full-time. Seems like you won’t be publishing much on this blog but I urge you to at least try and write 1 post a week. Shouldn’t be that hard to find the time…Or even better try and find some guest bloggers to do all the work for you
Thanks for the mention!
See you around!
Hi AJ.
Yep life’s busy. I want to keep this blog going because it’s done so much for me. Guest blogging is something I’ve considered. I’ll honestly think with working 40 hours a week on marketing. I’ll have something to write.
Many thanks
I definitely understand the busy thing. In fact, today, I purposely did not log into the blog or Twitter or anything, so I could spend some one-on-one time with my son, who is three years old. We all have to make better decisions on how to spend our time.
I am not much of a multi-tasker. So when I started building up my real business, the bizchickblogs site took a bit of a hit. It stinks that it has to be that way. I can understand why you took some time away from your blog here. Priorities!
Thank you SO much for the mention, lol. I hardly think anything of being social on Twitter; it comes second nature to me. I am not the best at getting around to everyone’s blogs but I will certainly chat on Twitter with whoever wants to!
Cheers, James. Thanks again for everything.
Tia
No worries for the mention. It’s important to get the correct balance in life. This evening I’ve been busy too, playing Squash then in the gym and keeping healthy.
Having a family is a huge commitment in its self.
I am pleased you enjoy networking on Twitter.
I really like your idea of getting more social in social media, putting its top value right where it belongs right?
I try to be active on Twitter when time allows, it’s not alaways possible though, but of course I reply to every mention, it’s the least I can do.
It’s a good thing to keep in mind for me as well, and a nice addition to my ever-growing “to do” list.
Hi Gabriele,
It’s important to develop a network. We all need people in our lives and be connected. I can relate to having little time.
It’s also about having quality people on your Twitter list. I’ve deleted 800 people from my Twitter account, because a lot of them were marketers, tweeting irrelevant information, the problem is you miss out on the quality.
Hey James, Glad the new job is going well! The good thing about your concentrating on the job is that your job is ENHANCING your skills and knowledge that you can always use for your own blogging ventures in the future. Some people have day jobs that are only good for paying the bills, but yours is even accelerating your learning the things other bloggers may not have access to.
I have a lot of Twitter accounts for my various niches, but right now all I’m managing to do is answer my @mentions. I look forward to figuring out exactly what I want my unified internet persona to be.
Hi Christie,
Welcome back. Please you’re well. I am in a lucky place and the moment, over time you’ll see me promoting some new and upcoming blogs. This weekend was an experiment on Twitter to see who uses social media to learn and engage – to those who promote tacky products.
I wish you luck with your persona.
